I was not an athlete but since Elizabethtown College requires 4 physical education classes to graduate, I signed up for Coach Joe Whitmore's class in Physical Conditioning. He related to all his students well and inspired a lot of us to make exercise a daily habit, and thanks to his class, jogging in the sunshine around campus or jogging in the rain in the circular hallway of Thompson gym, I learned I could do 10K runs after all! He was an inspiration to many and all of us who met him remember him fondly.
Dear Lois, David and Dona, We grieve with you in the passing of our neighbor, colleague, and friend, Coach Joe. All of our memories are sweet, and it will take us a long time not to look for him at basketball games.
