My condolences to the family. Wow Elmer you have lived a long and wonderful life! My memories of you are from working with you at the garment factory way back in the early eighties. You were one of the kindest human beings I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. RIP dear.
We had the true privilege of being Elmer’s neighbors for a few short years, and we absolutely adored him. I often brought my daughter over to visit, and he would proudly show her Ruthie’s teddy bear collection, something she cherished every time. Elmer was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. May he rest peacefully, reunited at last with his beloved. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.
My family was neighbors to Elmer and Ruthie for about 20 years on Pitt Street until 1994. They were a very nice couple. Elmer was very pleasant to talk to. We would see him outside making good use of his time. We admired his work ethic and he was a good role model for us and others. He will be missed.
Growing up I lived beside Elmer and Ruthie for 11 years on Pitt Street in the 1950's & 1960's. I remember going for ice cream rides in the Chevy convertible, going to Hershey Park and Ephrata Farm Show parades with them. Besides caring for his lawn, Elmer would wash their cars every Saturday morning. One great neighbor. My condolences to the family.
