Obituary of Catherine F. Plummer
Catherine Frances Plummer (nee Fickling), resident of Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania passed away on March 14, 2025 at the age of 90. She was born August 30, 1934 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Thomas N. and Everdell (Jowers) Fickling.
Catherine’s artistic, poetic and musical abilities were well known by her family, and friends who were regular recipients of her hand crafted ornaments, poems and cards. These abilities were put to use for many years while teaching Sunday School, composing news letters, creating church banners, and singing in the choir, touching all with her talents and gifts. Her Christmas Cookies were legendary!
While raising 4 children, Catherine always found time to volunteer with several organizations including; Jaycees, Girl Scouts, Church Council, and Lutheran Church Women. She used her leadership and creative skills to further the success of these public-spirited organizations.
Catherine will be lovingly missed by daughters Peggi Norman (Wayne), Pat Berg (Michael), Maribeth Makela (Michael) and daughter-in-law Nellie Plummer; grand-children Melissa Norman, Sarah Berg, Daniel and Matthew Makela, brother Thomas Fickling II, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years Richard Kero Plummer Sr., her son Richard (Rich) Kero Plummer Jr., granddaughters Rebecca and Emily Norman, brothers Michael and John Fickling and sister Mary Burgamy.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 125 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA, 17022, with the Reverend A.J. Domines officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church memorial garden with a luncheon at the church to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Catherine’s Memory to Masonic Charities of Pennsylvania (Masonic Village at Elizabethtown) or Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.spencefuneralservices.com.
