Obituary of Gerald C. Rohrer
Gerald C. “Jerry” Rohrer, 85, of Ronks, PA, also known as “Super Seed”, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, unexpectedly on Monday evening, March 31, 2025 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Willis W. and Grace Kendig Rohrer. He was the husband of Ruth Ann Myer Rohrer for 66 years.
Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Penn Manor High School where he received education in the agricultural program and was president of the FFA during his senior year. As a schoolboy, he raised pigs for market and grew tomatoes commercially. He also helped his grandmother tend her stand at Lancaster Central Market.
After Jerry and Ruth Ann were married, they were house parents at Milton S. Hershey School for a brief time before returning to Lancaster County and joining the family business, Rohrer Seeds, where he was employed for more than 30 years. In the late 1980s, he founded Rohrer Transport where he continued his long and accomplished career in trucking that spanned six decades and 6.7 million miles.
Jerry was a former member of Lancaster Grace Brethren Church where he was active in various ministries. More recently, he attended Calvary Church in Lancaster. Jerry enjoyed the people that life brought to him and he had a burden for others to experience the hope and joy that he found in following Jesus Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Gloria J. Rohrer of New Holland, and G. Timothy, husband of Lorraine Huber Rohrer, of Mount Joy; three grandchildren, Adam (Christi) Rohrer of Elizabethtown, Olivia (Carter) Hull of San Antonio, TX, and Noah Rohrer, serving at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT; four great grandchildren; and two siblings, Gordon (Yvonne) Rohrer of Lancaster, and Dianne (Dennis) Dulio of Washington Boro.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, May 13, 2025 at 5:00 PM at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive guests at the church on Tuesday afternoon one hour prior until the time of the service. Private interment will be in Monterey Chapel (Eby) Cemetery, Leola. Please omit flowers. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to the Global Missions Fund of Calvary Church. To express a condolence with the family, visit www.spencefuneralservices.com.
