Obituary of Miriam J. Cassel
Miriam J. Cassel, 82, of Lititz, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, May 28, 2025 at United Zion Retirement Community following a 17-year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Alton P. and Esther Webber Bucher. She was the wife of Samuel M. Cassel for 63 years on February 17.
Miriam was a faithful member of White Oak Church in Manheim where she taught children’s Sunday school and VBS classes. She was also active with women’s fellowship and supported her husband in his role as a minister in the church. Miriam was primarily a homemaker. However, she was employed as a baker by the former Minnich’s Bakery in Lititz. In addition to enjoying flower gardening, she was an excellent housekeeper and cook.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Teresa J., wife of Jere Brubaker, of Myerstown, Jere A., husband of Juanita Metzler Cassel, of Leola, and Sharon K. Sensenich of Lititz; 13 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Luke, husband of Naomi Bucher, of Schaefferstown, and David, husband of Judy Bucher, of Eyota, MN. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Brubaker, and a sister, Rachel Brubaker.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM at White Oak Church, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests at a public viewing at the church on MONDAY evening from 6;30-8:30 PM and on Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
