Obituary of Richard H. Frank

Richard H. Frank of Lititz, PA, formerly of Elizabethtown, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, July 20, 2025 at Landis Homes surrounded by his family two days after his 93rd birthday. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Alverda Hershey Frank. He was the husband of the late Naomi A. Burkholder Frank for 66 years prior to her passing in 2020.

In addition to being a lifelong farmer in West Donegal Twp., Richard was a member of Elizabethtown Mennonite Church where he served as pastor for 25 years. He was also a chaplain at Mennonite Home for eight years. Richard earned a master’s degree in biblical studies from Trinity Theological Seminary and taught International Sunday school lessons for the radio program Sunday School Mediations for 21 years. The program was broadcast on many Christian radio stations. He enjoyed singing and was most recently a member of the School Boys male quintet.

He is survived by five children, Karen S., wife of Kenneth Rutt, of Elizabethtown, Dean L. Frank of Bainbridge, Audrey J., wife of Kevin Rohrer, of Manheim, Dale R., husband of Denette Cogley Frank, of Elizabethtown, and Beth A. Sauder of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a sister, Mildred, wife of Lester Groff, of Lititz; and a sister-in-law, Elnora Frank of Lancaster. He was also preceded in death by a foster son, Robert Weirich, and a brother, Donald H. Frank

A memorial service will be held on Thursday morning, July 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 South Spruce Street, Elizabethtown, PA. Private interment will be in Elizabethtown Mennonite Cemetery. The family will receive guests during a public viewing at the church on Wednesday evening from 5-8:00 PM and on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. There will be no viewing on Thursday morning. Plan to use Apple Alley off South Market Street due to street construction on South Spruce Street. Please omit flowers.
