Obituary of Ray W. Beyer
Ray W. Beyer, 86, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, due to a lawn mower accident.
Born in Lititz on November 10th, 1938, he was the son of Russell R. Beyer and Mary H. (Whissler) Beyer and the husband of Mary Ann (Martin) Beyer with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Brenda (Beyer) Gehman, married to Dale Gehman of Ephrata and Clair Beyer, married to Lois (Martin) Beyer of Lititz.
Ray loved the Lord and his family and friends. He was a member of Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, where he served as the cemetery caretaker for 50 years. He enjoyed singing in different choruses.
Ray was a dairy farmer and enjoyed working the land and farm with his wife, children and grandchildren. He worked at Paul B Zimmerman, Inc. and Lincoln Auto Auction in his later years. He enjoyed driving Amish and mowing on the farm. He also enjoyed woodworking, word search puzzles, and all things John Deere.
Family was one of the greatest joys of Ray’s life and he deeply valued time spent with his grandchildren and their families - James, married to Amanda Martin Gehman, Richard married to Nicole Miller Gehman, Jolene married to Chad Newswanger, Renelle married to Jared Martin, Jennifer married to Keith Hurst, Melanie married to Jared Decker, Jonathan married to Michelle Hess Gehman, and Joshua married to Abigail Lapp Gehmen, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Lois Zeiset, Anna Gehman, wife of Melvin Gehman, Orpha Weaver, and Esther Bange, wife of Amos Bange. Those preceding him in death are four siblings, Paul, Mark, an infant brother, John, and an infant sister, Arlene; and two brothers-in-law, Ellis Zeiset and David Weaver.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, 590 Hammer Creek Road, Lititz, PA. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
