Obituary of J. Lester Lapp
J. Lester Lapp, 92, of Manheim, PA, went home to be with the Lord he loved on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2025 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law with whom he resided. Born in Kinzers, PA, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Florence Blank Lapp. He was the loving husband of J. Lorraine Grube Lapp for 68 years on September 1.
Lester was an active member of White Oak Church in Manheim where he was treasurer for many years. He was also involved in the "Manheim Project" ministry and traveled to Alabama for prison ministry. Prior to retiring, he was employed as a diesel mechanic by White Indiana and Waters Equipment, both in Lancaster. More recently, he was employed for 15 years as a van driver by Manheim Auto Auction.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Joan L., wife of Joseph Martin, of Manheim, Janice L. Lapp of Harrisburg, Juanita L., wife of Jeff Crouse, of Manheim, and Joseph L., husband of Donna Lapp, of Manheim; 23 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ann, wife of Harold Groff, of Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lydia Martin; and two brothers, Earl and Elmer Lapp.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at White Oak Church, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
