Obituary of Lee M. Sweigart

Lee M. Sweigart, 44, of Manheim, PA, formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday evening, August 21, 2025 at Wellspan York Hospital following complications related to his lifelong struggle with muscular dystrophy.  Born in Ephrata, he was the son of William R. Sweigart of Denver, PA, and Brenda L. Galebach Brandt of Manheim.

 

Lee was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Penryn.  He was a 1999 graduate of Ephrata High School where he received a varsity lettermen’s jacket for being a manager of the football team for three years.  He also played Challenger baseball before becoming a coach for two years.  Lee also enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Phillies, Eagles, and NASCAR fan.  He also followed professional wrestling and assumed the wrestling persona of Max Tempest at Stevens Fire Hall.

 

He was employed as a bank teller for 17 years by Susquehanna Bank and its successors.  His last teller position was at the Manheim Square branch of Truist Bank.

 

In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his stepfather, Jay Brandt of Manheim; two nieces, Miranda and Ansley Sweigart of Hopeland; and three step siblings, Randy L., husband of Jennifer M. Peiffer Brandt, of Manheim, Jennifer L., wife of Christopher M. Cheney, of Apalachin, NY, and Tammy J., wife of Jeremy J. Kline, of Ephrata and their families.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph S. Sweigart.
