Obituary of M. Dorothy Gehman
M. Dorothy (Dot) Gehman, 92, of Brethren Village, Lancaster, PA, formerly of Ephrata and Barto, PA went to meet her Lord and Savior on August 26th, 2025, peacefully in her room.
Dot was born May 6th, 1933, in Barto PA. She was the daughter of John M. and Mary C. Genszler Simmons. She was married to N. James Gehman for 60 years, who preceeded her in death in 2014. Dot was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Richard (Gladys), John (Thelma), George (wife Rosie, who survives), and Ann (husband Leroy, who survives).
Dot was a homemaker and loved gardening, sewing, cooking, playing games, especially ping-pong. She loved to read her Bible and put her faith into action by serving others. She loved the Lord, was a strong prayer warrior, and often shared her testimony. She taught Sunday school, served at Camp Men-o-lan, was an Auxiliary of the Gideons, and volunteered at the Thrift shop of Brethren Village. Dot and Jim loved to welcome friends into their home, travel, and were in business together as owners of G&G Industries.
Dot is survived by her three children, Debbie Witman (Charlie) of Dayton, VA., Diane Steiner (Chris) of Pandora, OH., and Bruce Gehman (Jackie Fichiera) of Mechanicsburg, PA. She has six grandchildren: Kara Yowell, Brittany Ryan, Alison Sloop, Collin Steiner, Alec Gehman, Cole Gehman. She has six great grandchildren: Albon, Lillian, Hope, Noel, Phoebe, and Paul.
Dot’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, August 30th, 2025, at 11:15 AM at Butter Valley Community Church, 2600 Old Route 100, Bally, PA. Private interment in Hereford Mennonite Cemetery in Bally. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Men-o-lan, 1415 Doerr Road, Quakertown, PA., 18951.
