Obituary of Wilbur E. Ruhl

Wilbur E. Ruhl, 82, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away on Tuesday evening, August 26, 2025 at Masonic Health Care Center.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Merle V. and Erma J. Lehman Ruhl. He was the husband of Victoria L. Koser Ruhl for 63 years on March 11.

 

Wilbur was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown and was a 1960 graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School.  Prior to retiring in 2013, he was employed for 23 years as a sales representative by Chemgro in East Petersburg.  Earlier, he was employed for 22 years by the former Farmer's Fertilizer Company in Elizabethtown, working most of those years in the office with accounts payable and receivable before going into sales.

 

He was a member of the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682, F&AM in Elizabethtown, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, and Reading Consistory.  He was also a member of the Carlisle Fish and Game Club and a life member of Conewago Rod and Gun Club.  As a competitive trap shooter, he was the 1990 Pennsylvania Singles Champion and the 1992 Eastern Zone Singles Champion.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Terry E. Ruhl of Willow Street; two grandsons, Remsy A. Ruhl and Owen M. Ruhl; and a sister, Carol Jean, wife of John Fullerton, of Elizabethtown.

 

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday morning, September 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Christ Church United Church of Christ, 247 South Market Street, Elizabethtown. Interment will follow in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown. There will be no viewing.
