Obituary of Jere D. Fisher, Sr.

Jere D. Fisher, 87, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday December 4, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Richard and Catherine (Snyder) Fisher. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gloria Ann (Leakway) Fisher.

He was a graduate of McCaskey High School, class of ‘56, where he excelled in athletics. He was selected for the Lancaster All-County Soccer team his sophomore, junior and senior years and he was a guard on the varsity basketball team. He retired from ITT Engineered Valves of Lancaster.

Jere was a man of many talents and passions. He was a skilled tennis player and a member of the Lancaster Tennis and Yacht Club for many years. He tinkered with his golf game for decades, always trying to improve. He loved to take backpacking trips and to tie his own fishing flies. He would light up the dance floor with his wife Gloria, when they did the jitterbug. His large circle of friends and relatives always enjoyed his contagious sense of humor and kindness.

Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who blessed us all with so many wonderful memories.

He is survived by his three children, Jere D., Jr., husband of Debbie (Crisler) Fisher, of Lake Wylie, SC, Timothy S., husband of Diane (Hiestand) Fisher, of Manheim, and Wendy F., wife of Karl Brenstuhl, of Camp Hill; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
