Obituary of Janice V. Trostle
On December 25, 2025, Janice Vivian Trostle took her last breath here on earth and her first breath in Heaven. We believe God wanted her for His gift on this special day! God honored her by taking her home on Christmas day. God's timing is perfect!
Janice was born on February 27, 1938, to Paul and Vivian Plack in Baltimore, MD. Since her father was a traveling evangelist when she was young, her family lived with her grandparents. Her childhood was filled with love, laughter, and a lot of extended family. Mom had three brothers - Dan, James and Phil. She was reunited with Dan and Phil in Heaven, along with her parents, a granddaughter, and our dad.
Mom met our father, George Robert Trostle, at the church her father was pastoring in Williamsport PA. They attended Bob Jones University together and then married on September 6, 1958. While George was in the Air Force, they were stationed in Charleston, SC. This is where their first two children, Mark and Vivien, were born. After moving back to PA, they added three more to the family, Sharon, David, and Karen. Mom and Dad were married for 47 years before Daddy went to Heaven in 2005.
While here on earth, Mom loved and lived for the Lord. She tried to live a life honoring and serving Him. Over the years, you could find her teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, singing many duets with her father and also solos at local churches. She was trained to be a Stephen Minister, showing love, care and wisdom with those who were hurting. After dad passed, she was instrumental in starting a Widows fellowship. Mom was intentional about sharing Jesus whenever the opportunity arose. She was a member of Lancaster Alliance Church.
Mom leaves behind all five of her children and spouses: Mark/Estella, Vivien/Tom, Sharon/Hopeton, David/Carole and Karen/Steve. She was blessed to have 11 grandchildren (Jeremy, Jenni, Janna, Weslea, Drew, Zane Tim, Micah, Dillon, Danielle and Seth) and nine great grandchildren. All of whom she loved dearly!
The family would like to thank the staff at Newport Meadows Nursing Center for their care and kindness to Mom while she resided there. Many of the staff became dear to her and to us! A special thank you to Brandywine Hospice who cared for mom this past year.
Mom was not perfect, but she was perfect for us! Well done, Mom! We'll see you soon! Looking forward to that day!
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1 PM at Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive guests from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
