Obituary of James B. Reissig

James B. Reissig, 58, of Manheim, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior whom he loved, on Wednesday afternoon, December 31, 2025 at his residence. Born in White Plains, NY, he was the son of Barton N. Reissig of Essex Junction, VT and the late Edith C. (Hornkohl) Reissig. He was the husband of Lisa J. (Choate) Reissig for 28 years on July 6.

Prior to living in Manheim, Jim also spent time living in Maryland and Vermont. He earned a bachelor’s degree in human services from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in counselor education. Jim was employed by the State of Maryland for more than 20 years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor.

Jim was a student of reformed theology and a member of Jerusalem Church in Penryn. In his community of Brookshire, he was active in a men’s Bible study. Jim enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and tennis. His favorite teams were the Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, and the NY Giants. He also enjoyed listening to music and audio books about reformed theology and politics. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two daughters, Grace E. Reissig of Manheim and Lydia C., wife of Wyatt E. Pruitt, of Lancaster; two siblings, Steven Reissig and Susan, wife of Jerry Knickerbocker, all of Essex Junction, VT; and his parents-in-law, Donald and Marlyn (Kerner) Choate of Lititz.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday morning, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Jerusalem Church, 1620 Newport Road, Manheim, PA 17545. There is no public viewing. Private interment is in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Manheim. The family will receive guests at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. If desired, contributions may be made to the benevolent fund of Jerusalem Church. To express a condolence with the family or for additional information, visit www.spencefuneralservices.com.
