Obituary of James A. Longenecker

James A. Longenecker, 89, of Elizabethtown, PA passed away on Saturday morning, June 13, 2026, at Magnolias of Lancaster. Born in Elizabethtown, James was the son of the late Amos B. and Mary E. (Pieffer) Longenecker. He was the husband of the late Gloria F. (Gish) Longenecker, until her death in 2025.

A 1955 graduate of Donegal High School, Jim was a truck driver for 18 years. In his younger years he was a farmer and he always enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his four daughters, Pamela G. Eshleman wife of Jay of Elizabethtown and their four children, Jeffrey Eshleman, Briana Phillippy wife of Michael, Caitlyn Floyd and Zachary Eshleman; Carol A. Weaver wife of Mark of Lancaster and their two children, Joseph Weaver and Jason Weaver; Dawn M. Brown wife of Stuart of Manheim and their three children, Michael, Nicholas and Jonathan Brown; and Kimberly S. Longenecker wife of Michael Bridge of Elizabethtown; six great grandchildren, Lucy and Samson Floyd, and Malachi, Emma, Madison and Micah Phillippy; and daughter-in-law Carol Donahue of Lancaster and her daughter Polina. He is also survived by one brother David M. Longenecker husband of Laura of Mt. Joy.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son Phillip J. Longenecker; a grandson Brent M. Weaver; and siblings Robert P. Longenecker and his wife Elaine; John C. Longenecker and his wife Aileen; and Anna Ruth Longenecker Hoffman and her husband Lester.

A Graveside Service will take place on Monday July 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Mount Pleasant Brethren in Christ Church, 1756 Mt. Pleasant Road, Mount Joy, PA.
