Obituary of Philip J. Fatta

Philip J. Fatta, 65, of East Petersburg, PA, unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, November 19, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital of natural causes. Born in Jamaica, NY, he was the son of the late James and Dorothy Wagner Fatta. He was the husband of Sandra J. Stout Fatta for 21 years on October 9. Phil was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Mount Joy, PA. He was a 1966 graduate of Manheim Township. High School and earned an associate's degree from Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster. He was also a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy where he received the marksmanship award. Prior to retiring in 1999, he served Manheim Township as a police officer for 25 years. Phil followed NASCAR and especially was a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan. He also enjoyed racing his Ford Mustang at Cecil County (MD) Dragway. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Timothy W. Fatta, companion of Amber Doak, of Mount Joy, Todd A., husband of Jody E. Dissinger Fatta, of Lancaster, PA, and Amber R. Haberstroh, fiancée of Jonathan Brandt, of Mount Joy; eight grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Margie Fatta, of Silver Springs, PA; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gilbert O. and Audrey Jean Stout, of Manheim, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren and a brother, James Fatta. A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon, November 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. Mark's United Methodist Church (please use the main entrance to the rear of the Church), 27 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA with Pastor David E. Woolverton officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive guests at the church on Friday afternoon from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 East St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
