What is the PA state law regarding funeral processions?
As one might expect, each state has its own laws regarding funeral processions. In Pennsylvania, each vehicle in the procession must have its headlights lit and emergency lights flashing as well as bear a flag or another insignia indicating it is part of the procession. The vehicle leading the procession must observe stop signs and traffic signals at intersections before proceeding. Once the lead vehicle legally begins to pass through an intersection, all remaining vehicles in the procession may cautiously follow without stopping. Funeral processions must, however, yield the right-of-way to emergency vehicles whenever encountered. Before becoming a part of a funeral procession, always make sure your vehicle is operating properly and you have adequate fuel to get to and from the cemetery. Keep the distance between automobiles at a safe minimum in order to keep other cars from entering the procession. Finally, use extreme caution driving and be aware of other drivers around you… they may not be aware of you.
