LaVern E. “Beanie” Unger, 86, formerly of North Carolina, passed into the arms of his heavenly Father on Friday morning, June 18, 2021 at Oak Leaf Manor North in Landisville after a period of declining health.  Born in Spring Twp., Berks County, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey F. and Stella M. Beanie served in the United States Navy as a Boatswain Mate 3rd Class.  After his discharge, he was employed in the horse racing industry caring for horses, mostly in the eastern United States.  He later worked as a maintenance worker for the city of Maitland, Florida until his retirement.  Beanie had a “happy-go-lucky” personality and was content living a simple life.  In addition to horse racing, he enjoyed attending the Daytona 500 auto races, local dirt track races, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Surviving is a brother, Raymond H. Unger, of Mohnton and a sister, Anna Mae Levering, of Elizabethtown.  He is also survived by several nieces, a nephew, stepchildren, and their respective families.  Beanie was also preceded in death by a brother, Harvey F, Unger, Jr.
