Obituary of Ed Weber

Ed Weber, 51, of Lancaster, PA, met Jesus face-to-face on Tuesday morning, July 20, 2021 after passing away due to natural causes experienced at home.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Joan M. Kline Weber Byrne of Lititz and the late J. Edward Weber, II.  He was the loving husband of Vicki E. Landis Weber for 24 years.

Ed was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and possessed a strong love and desire to serve his Gospel Community.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and Missions from Lancaster Bible College and was working toward a Master’s degree in Ministry through Antioch School of Church Planting and Leadership Development.

Back in the day, he created, directed and produced Backstage Productions, a drama ministry. Traveling to multiple churches in the Lancaster area, he would spread the Gospel through original musicals and plays written by him.

Ed was also involved with Sight and Sound, working first as a stage technician before working in the electrical department, then eventually becoming the stage manager at both theatres.

He founded and directed YMI, (Youth Ministry Innovations), a non-profit ministry reaching out to the youth and youth ministries of Lancaster county. Through YMI, he was able to share the Gospel with hundreds of kids throughout the county by running and directing Ultimate Experience (UE) Camp as well as retreats and other events.

For the past seven years, Ed has been employed by Millersville Community UMC.  Through this relationship, Ed created the HUB, a place for Mind, Body, Heart, and Soul. The HUB is a space to live out Gospel goodness, existing for Gospel, community and mission.  The HUB serves students by providing a space to connect through meals, game nights, french toast Friday, etc.  It also assists students with food and clothing through the Campus Cupboard and Campus Closet.  Ed invested his life into students, developing them for leadership and training them to take the Gospel of Jesus to their world. Ed had the gift of finding Gospel Truth and Redemption in all facets of life.

Ed loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them. He would take his family on adventures and family vacations and Daddy dates, creating wonderful memories they will never forget. In addition to family hikes, long bike rides, and golfing, he enjoyed watching sports with his kids, especially his children involved in sports. He assisted in coaching his son’s soccer teams and spent countless hours at games, cheering them on. The family would also have “movie nights” together.

He was an incredible father figure for his kids, teaching them about the Gospel and how to love Jesus and others in their world.  He was blessed with a gift of being a creative innovator, which showed and continues to show through the ministry and life he poured into the world.

In addition to his loving wife and mother, he is survived by five wonderful children, Dakota, Carley, Elijah, Elliot, and Ehren. Also surviving is his step-father, Geoffrey A. Byrne of Lititz; step-mother, Alice Weber of Toms River, NJ; parents-in-law, Charles and Eileen Landis of Manheim; and two sisters, Lisa Marie, wife of Steven J. Cockerill, of Melbourne, Australia, and Eva Davis of Maple Shade, NJ. Through these and those who knew him, he will be sorely missed.

A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 2pm at the First Campus, 121 North George Street, Millersville, PA.  The family will be having a private viewing.  Guests are welcome to greet one another after the service in the HUB cafe. Please omit flowers. If desired, contributions may be made to Youth Ministry Innovations, 133 Marticville Road, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to The HUB, 121 North George Street, Millersville, PA 17551, www.hubmillersville.com. To help the Weber family financially, visit https://gofund.me/42326d3d.

Ultimately to honor Ed’s life, Live for Jesus, for the life of the world.   ~Colossians 1
