I was so very sorry to hear about Jere's passing. He was the department chair of the Math Dept at Manheim Central, when I started teaching there as a "fresh out of college" teacher, and young female. He really helped me with the start of my teaching career as a mentor and friend. I learned so much about how to be a good teacher from Jere. I later worked under Jere when he was an assistant principal and principal. Jere was always fair, kind, and always there to help everyone. I will always remember all the wonderful things I learned from Jere, and have always thought of him as a gentleman and friend. My condolences to Barb and your family. He will be missed. - Deb Rothermel

My sincerest sympathies to the Murphy family. Jere was generous and kind person. I will always remember his wry wit and humor. I knew Jere as a teacher, administrator and friend. He was someone we all could emulate for his efforts to make his community a better place. Thank you Jere.

Sincere condolences to the Murphy family. Mr. Murphy was my high school algebra teacher. He stayed after school many times to help me as I struggled with algebra. He was always patient and kind and a wonderful teacher. Pat Yeager MCHS class of 1969

Many thoughts and prayers to Barb and family in the days and weeks to come. As a member of the class of 63 we all knew that Jere was a special person dedicated to family, friends, students and teachers for many years. Just like High School his concerns for others always came first no matter what the circumstances or situation Jere was always there for us! A life of influence and memories for all a life well lived. May god speed on the rest of his journey. A fellow class mate Ed Powl
