Obituary of Joseph E. Hershey

Joseph E. Hershey, 81, of Elizabethtown, PA, entered eternity on Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2023 at the Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy of natural causes.  Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Evelyn Clark Hershey.  He was the husband of Nancy Simmons Hershey for 54 years on October 18.

Joe was a 1960 graduate of Elizabethtown High School where he was a member of the track and football teams.  He founded Hershey Door Service in Elizabethtown in 1975 and remained active in the business and president until his passing.  He was a member of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682, F&AM, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 596, and American Legion Conewago Post No. 329, all in Elizabethtown.  He was also a member of the Marietta Beneficial Society.

In addition to being an avid golfer, Joe enjoyed watching Penn State football.  Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Nicole L. Hershey of Elizabethtown; a stepson, Steven Brown of Lititz; a granddaughter, Brianna Wolfe; two brothers, Michael Hershey of Elizabethtown and Philip, husband of Linda Hershey, of Newark, DE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
