Obituary of Mary Ellen Geib
Mary Ellen Hess Geib, 90, of Manheim, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, died peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in in Mount Joy Township near Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Rhoda Snyder Hess. She attended Woodland Heights country school and graduated from Elizabethtown High School.
She was married to the late Isaac Geib for 69 years prior to his passing in January of this year. She worked at Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster. Mary Ellen was also a banquet server at Evans restaurant in Manheim and the General Sutter Inn in Lititz.
While raising her family, Mary Ellen enjoyed singing in choirs, making ceramics, needlepoint and floral arranging. She also enjoyed entertaining and she used her decorating talents and love for antiques to create a warm, welcoming and memorable gathering for her guests. She enjoyed attending concerts and art shows. She was a member at the Lititz Church of the Brethren and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Mary Ellen was very devoted to her children, family and friends. In more recent years, she was faithful about calling friends and family needing an encouraging word and was involved in the phone chain for her Sunday school class.
Survived by her three children; Perry Geib, companion Sandra Wilson, Lititz, Randy Geib married to Diane Geib, Manheim, and Dora Jo Forry, married to David L Forry, of Manheim; two grandchildren, Brandon Geib and Carson Geib; a sister, Nancy Geeseman; and brother Wilbur Hess, married to Fern Hess, Elizabethtown. Preceding in death is her daughter, Sharon, Shelly, married to David Shelly of Lititz; and a sister, Wilma Kettering.
