Obituary of Amos V. Cunningham

Amos V. Cunningham, 93, of Lititz, PA, formerly of Quarryville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2024 at Brethren Village with his family by his side.  Born in Antrim Twp., Franklin Co., he was the son of the late Russel D. and Clara Reiff Cunningham.  He was the husband of Ruth Musselman Cunningham for 63 years prior to her passing in 2022.

 

Amos graduated from Greencastle High School.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Elizabethtown College and a Master of Education from the University of Wyoming at Laramie.  He was a member of Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren in Quarryville and an associate member of Lititz Church of the Brethren.  He retired as a guidance counselor from Solanco School District.  He was also an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren and served as pastor of several congregations.

 

He is survived by two children, Joan Kabakjian, of Elizabethtown, and Mark A., husband of Mari Hershey Cunningham, of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; former son-in-law, Kenneth Kabakjian of Harleysville; and a sister-in-law, Lucy de Perrot of Lititz.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Ray Cunningham; and two siblings, Wava Hess and Russel D. Cunningham.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA.  Interment will be private in the Mechanic Grove Brethren Cemetery.  There will be no public viewing.  The family will receive guests at Brethren Village on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  All are invited to join the family for light refreshments to be held at Brethren Village immediately following the service.  The family requests that flowers please be omitted.  If desired, contributions may be made to COBYS Family Services, 1417 East Oregon Road, Leola, PA 17540.  To express a condolence with the family visit www.spencefuneralservices.com.
