Obituary of John P. White

John P. White, 78, of Manheim, PA, passed away peacefully at Pleasant View Retirement Community on August 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Manhattan, New York, on July 9, 1946, he was the son of the late John P. White and Marie Elizabeth Quinn.  He celebrated 58 years of marriage to the late Sandra L. White.

John attended Power Memorial High School in New York and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from July 1963 to July 1967. He served as a radio dispatcher and earned a National Defense Service Medal.

John enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and the New York Yankees.

For many years, John coached Manheim midget football and community league baseball. He retired from the Armstrong Marietta ceiling plant in 2003 after 30-plus years of service.

John is survived by two sons, Shawn P., husband of Beth White of Lititz, and Dennis P., husband of Susan White of Manheim; three grandchildren, Hannah Weidle, wife of Seth, Drew White, and Katie White, and two great-granddaughters, Elsie and Hattie Weidle. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Lauren and Blake Wisniewski, and three step-granddaughters, Harlan Childs, Reagan Childs, and Waverly Wisniewski.
