Obituary of Glenn F. Shenk, Sr.

Glenn F. Shenk, Sr., 87, of Lititz, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, September 5, 2024, at his home. Born in Mt. Joy Twp, he was the son of the late Earl E. Shenk and Katie A. Flory Shenk. He was the husband of the late Audrey J. Graybill Shenk for 63 years prior to her passing in 2021.

Glenn was a faithful member of Chiques Church in Manheim, PA.  He served several years on the heifer committee for the Brethren Disaster Relief Auction.

At a young age he worked for his father’s family business, E. E. Shenk & Sons in Elizabethtown, PA. After marriage he and Audrey had the opportunity to take over her parent’s farm outside of Elm, PA, where they spent their life dairy farming and raising their family. A 1968 farming accident led to the loss of his right leg. Despite that loss, he never complained, and continued his passion of working on their farm. He deeply loved his family and lived a life of grace, with faith being his cornerstone. He was a humble, cherished, and adored husband, father, Grandpa and PaPa. Over the years, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, and their visits and phone calls always brought him the biggest smile. His great grandson of 2 years kept him busy playing with tractors, cars, and trucks. They both loved every minute spent together.

He is survived by six children, Glenn F. “Buddy” Shenk, II of Lititz, Jeffrey Shenk of Lititz, Melanie, wife of Christopher Dulaney, of Silver Springs, MD, Daphne wife of Edward Ambrose, of Lancaster, Lisa, wife of Shawn Barto, of Lancaster, and Monica, wife Ronald Fox, of Lititz; seven grandchildren, Taylar (Matthew) Dietrich, Cameron Barto (fiancé Madison Root), Lindsay, Emily, and Nicholas Shenk, Ethan and Jordyn Fox; and great grandson Krew Dietrich; seven siblings, Galen, husband of Nancy Shenk, Marlin “Marty”, husband of Joyce Shenk, Gladys, wife of Kenneth Balmer, Gary, husband of Janice Shenk, Judy, wife of Jacob Stotlzfus and Patsy, wife of Dale Brandt, all of Manheim, and Jerry, husband of Julie Shenk of Hagerstown, MD; two sisters-in-law, Darlene, wife of the late E. Eugene Shenk, of Manheim and Connie, wife of the late Ray Shenk, of Lititz, as well as Audrey’s sisters Barbara (late Wilbur) Hess of Manheim, and Judith (Wilbur) Rohrer of Lititz. He was preceded in death by sister, Velma Shenk, brothers E. Eugene Shenk, Ray Shenk, and an infant brother, Wilbur Shenk.

The family would also like to express our gratitude to Masonic Village Hospice and Senior Helpers for the excellent care they provided him.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM, viewing at 10:00 AM until time of service, at Chiques Church, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, PA.
