Obituary of Marie C. Hershey
Marie C. Hershey, 80, of Manheim PA, formerly of Ephrata and Lancaster, passed away peacefully after years of struggling with COPD on Sunday afternoon, December 15, 2024 at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community with her family by her side. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Catherine Wickenheiser Bleacher.
Marie was a follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful Christian. She was a graduate of McCaskey High School. Prior to retiring, she was a CNA and most recently was employed by the former Lancaster County Home. In addition to being a great cook, Marie loved playing BINGO, playing cards, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed connecting with friends, and playing games on her computer.
She is survived by three children, Jeffrey K. Alexander of Mountville, Glenda L. Hershey of Lititz, and Lisa M., wife of Raymond J. Alcala, Jr., of Manheim; two grandsons, Jarred R., husband of Alyssa Alcala, and their daughters, Adeline and Isabella, of Manheim, and Ryan G. Alcala, fiancée of Cassandra Liberta, of Reinholds; two siblings, Joseph Bleacher of Lancaster and Rita Bleacher of Ephrata; and a brother-in-law, Edward Kauffman of Columbia. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Michael Bleacher, Charlotte Kauffman, and Ruth Klebsch; and her former husband, Glenn B. Hershey.
Marie unselfishly chose to donate her body to benefit others. There are no public services.
