Obituary of George F. Stover

George Franklin "Frank" Stover, 82, of Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of Woodward, passed from this life on Thursday morning, January 23, 2025 at the Masonic Health Care Center in Elizabethtown.   He was born in Bellefonte and raised in Millheim, He was the son of the late George M. Stover and Freda M. McCool Stover of Millheim.

 

Frank was a graduate of Penns Valley Area High School, Class of 1960. On April 9, 1961, George married Vivian E. Johnson at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Millheim. She was the love of his life, even after 60-plus years of marriage.

 

George worked for Raub Supply Co., for many years in numerous locations and positions, lastly as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing from 1988 to1995 at corporate headquarters in Lancaster. George enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, fishing and service work for many nonprofit organizations. He enjoyed talking to and working with people.

 

George was a member of Old Fort Lodge No. 537, Free and Accepted Masons, where he was Secretary four years, He was also a member of the Valley of Williamsport Scottish Rite Consistory, Rajah Shrine, and Centre County Shrine Club. He was also a member and Worthy Patron (2009) of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 283 in Lewistown and, most recently a member of OES, Chapter 407 in Elizabethtown. George was also involved with the Boys Scouts of America, troops 59 & 88, a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Sell Chapel, and Penns Valley Historical Museum where he served on the board of directors. George was also very active with the Pennsylvania Grange and was a member of Penns Valley Grange No. 158, Elizabethtown Grange No.2076, Pomona Grange #13, Grange Fair Committee, and Gate #2 supervisor. His memberships also included Black Panther Camping Club, Tussey Mountain Good Sam Club, and The Hope Fund of Penns Valley where is served on the board and the outreach committee.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, George T. Stover, Manassas, VA.; his daughter, Susan E. Petersen, Elizabethtown; two granddaughters, Natalie A. Petersen, York and Muriel G. Bevins (Robert), Big Pine Key, FL; one great grandson, Ruslan V. Bevins; and two great granddaughters, Elaina G. Bevins and Daphney A. Petersen.

 

A Masonic Service will be held on Friday afternoon, February 7, 2025 beginning at 2:00 PM immediately followed by a memorial service at John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Dive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Interment will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery, Spring Mills, PA.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sell Chapel or The Hope Fund of Penns Valley, PO Box 427, Centre Hall, PA, 16828.
