John Robert Gibble, 69, of Lancaster, PA, traveled from his home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 23, 2011 unexpectedly of natural causes. Born in Rapho Twp., Lancaster County, he was the son of the late John S. and Ella E. Stauffer Gibble. Robert lived a quiet life of Christian faith in Jesus Christ. He was a 1960 graduate of Elizabethtown High School. During the Vietnam War, he served five years as a platoon sergeant in the United States Marines where he was wounded during combat. After returning to civilian life, he was employed by Yellow Freight as a truck driver for more than 25 years prior to retiring in 2005. He took pride in landscaping and planting flowers outside his home. His family and neighbors will fondly remember the attachment he and his cat, "Lilly", had for one another. Robert is survived by two brothers, J. Richard "Dick", husband of Kreszenz C. Gibble, and James L., husband of Linda L. Gibble; and a sister, Nancy J., wife of Galen F. Shenk, all of Elizabethtown, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet L. Witmer, and an infant sister, Betty L. Gibble. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, December 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Chiques Church of the Brethren, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, PA with Ron Strickler and Glen Faus officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. There will be no viewing. The family will visit with guests immediately following the interment at a luncheon in the Family Life Center of the church.
