It was with great sadness that I read of Carl's passing. My deepest prayers for God's peace go out to Jane and all of his family. It has been many years since I've worked closely with Carl, but those years are some of my fondest memories. Carl's musical legacy will live on through the many lives that he touched and shared his knowledge with, including mine. I am very sad that I can't attend the funeral because of work but know that I will be there in spirit and hold you all close in my heart.

I was the little brother (by 18 years!) and Carl was as much a father figure as a brother to me. He taught me many things about what was expected of a boy and a man including little things like how to shine my shoes and big things like how serve your country and be respectful of you elders. He modeled being a good Christian as well. I was so impressed that he took each of my sons out to lunch to celebrate their confirmations. He was a good brother and I will miss him more than I can express.
