Paul L. Myers, 79, of United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz, PA, formerly of Rapho Twp., unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, July 14, 2012 at Lancaster General Hospital following declining health. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Ezra B. and Lottie Long Myers. Paul was a 1951 graduate of Manheim Central High School, attended Millersville University, and also received vocational training in various trades. Ultimately, he was employed as a Pennsylvania state employee as an electrician at the former Crippled Children's Hospital and then by the PA State Department of Corrections, both in Elizabethtown. He was a member and past president of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Local No. 13 in Harrisburg. Early in his life, he was employed by the former Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster. He attended Chiques Church of the Brethren in Manheim, PA and served with Brethren Volunteer Service in Puerto Rico as a young man. In addition to being involved in the PA Grange Association, Paul enjoyed farming as a hobby. He is survived by two sons, Paul Lamar Myers, Jr. of Marietta, PA and Alfred L. Myers of Lancaster, PA; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth C. "Sonny" Myers of Manheim. He was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Williamson. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday morning, July 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Chiques Cemetery, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, PA with Brother Randy Hosler officiating. There will be no viewing.
