Obituary of Anna Ruth Burkholder

Anna Ruth Burkholder, 79, of Mountville, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon, July 15, 2012 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy, PA following a brief illness. Born in Manor Twp., Lancaster, Co., PA, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Anna K. Good Becker. She was the wife of J. Clyde Burkholder for 59 years on October 25, 2011. Anna Ruth was a member of Mountville Church of the Brethren where she was active with the Stitch and Sew ministry and served as greeter with her husband for many years. She owned and operated a stand at Green Dragon Market for 18 years. She was also employed by Plain and Fancy Restaurant as a waitress for 12 years. Earlier, she was a machine operator for the former Naugle's Garment Factory in Manheim and the Lucas Garment Factory in Columbia. She also volunteered at the Re-Uzit Shop in Columbia, PA. She was a member of the Rough and Tumble Engineers Historical Association in Kinzers, PA and a member of the Cushman Club of America. She enjoyed flower gardening, entertaining family and friends, solving jigsaw puzzles, and playing card and board games. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Larry E. Burkholder of Mountville, three grandchildren, Kristen Deese of Alabama, Steven Harris of Strasburg, PA, and Sheila Rittenhouse of Columbia; six great grandchildren; and four siblings, John M., husband of Mary Becker, of Manheim, Esther M., wife of Ira Groff, of Lancaster, PA, Christian G., husband of Arlene Becker, of Elizabethtown, PA, and Robert L. Becker of Denver, PA. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven L. Burkholder, who died in 1974, and a brother, James G. Becker. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, July 18, 2012 at 3:30 PM at Mountville Church of the Brethren, 60 Clay Street, Mountville, PA 17554. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 PM until the time of the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
