Obituary of Anna Mary Neff

Anna Mary Weaver Neff, 90, of Brethren Village, Lancaster, PA, formerly of East Petersburg, PA, passed away surrounded by her family at Brethren Village on Monday morning, September 24, 2012 following a long and full life. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late S. Clyde and Emma Weaver Weaver. She was the wife of the late Paul L. Neff who died May 1, 2011. Mrs. Neff was a graduate of Hempfield High School. She was an active member of the Hempfield Church of the Brethren where she served as a lifetime deaconess since 1946. She also was a member of the Women's Fellowship of the church and Brethren Village Auxiliary. Being the daughter of founder S. Clyde Weaver, she established the bakery there in 1963, continuing to develop and grow the department until her retirement. She lived out her gift of hospitality by serving her church, community, family, and international guests, including foreign exchange students and refugee families. She and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively in both the United States and internationally, including Europe and South America. Her family will remember her hands never being idle, but constantly being busy gardening, creating handwork for her home or family, or volunteering for the Lancaster-Lebanon Literacy Council which she did for many years. She also enjoyed playing a good game of Scrabble. She is survived by six children, Joanna N., wife of Nicolas Huacani, of Manheim, PA, Rachel W. N. Brown of Verona, VA, Samuel W., husband of Nancy Stover Neff, of Lancaster, Daniel W., husband of Carol Herr Neff, of Manheim, Debrah N., wife of Werner Mosimann, of Lititz, PA, and Martha W. N. "Mert", wife of David Brubaker, of Dayton, VA; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Sara Kathryn Gingrich of Lexington, KY. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clyde E. Weaver, and a sister, Dorothy M. "Dolly" Royer. A memorial service will be held on Thursday morning, September 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Hempfield Church of the Brethren, 1186 Stevens Street, Manheim, PA 17545 with Rev. Pete Kontra and Rev. Earl Ziegler officiating. Private interment will be in the Hempfield Church of the Brethren Cemetery. There will be no viewing. The family will receive guests at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund of the Hempfield Church of the Brethren or to the Good Samaritan Fund of Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606.
