Obituary of Ray E. Showalter

Ray E. Showalter, 68, of Manheim, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, October 8, 2012 at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Dayton, VA, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Evangeline Keller Showalter. He was the husband of Jane K. Wenger Showalter for 41 years on September 11. Ray was a member of The Worship Center near Leola, PA. He was a 1963 graduate of Turner Ashby High School in Dayton, VA and was the owner/operator of Showalter Bobcat Service for 36 years. In addition to hunting and being a Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed playing competitive baseball and softball throughout his lifetime. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Krista J., wife of Bob Stauffer, and their children, Alexandra and Ella, of Mount Joy, PA, Steven R., husband of Shawna R. Smoker Showalter, and their children, Brooklyn and Jaxson, of Lancaster, PA, and Clark E., husband of Jorie L. Johnson Showalter, and their daughter, Ruby, of Hummelstown, PA; and three siblings, Wilson Showalter, Mary Ann Showalter, and Randy, husband of Melissa Showalter, all of Harrisonburg. A memorial service will be held on Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2012 at 4:00 pm at The Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA with Pastor Sam Smucker officiating. Interment will be private in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Manheim. There will be no viewing. The family will receive guests at the church on Sunday afternoon from 2:30 pm until the time of the service.
