Obituary of Ruth E. Sentgeorge

Ruth E. Sentgeorge, 88, formerly of Erie, PA, peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus on Monday afternoon, February 17, 2014 at Rheems Nursing Center, Rheems, PA. Born in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Margaret Gorr Churchill. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Sentgeorge for 55 years prior to his passing in 2004. Prior to moving to Lancaster County to be closer to family, she had been a lifelong resident of Erie. She was a charter and active member of First Alliance Church in Erie where she played organ and piano and taught Sunday school. She and her husband helped to found Erie Youth for Christ. While living in Lancaster County, she attended Chiques Church of the Brethren in Manheim. She was employed for 15 years by Erie Insurance Company where she worked in the payroll and underwriting departments. In addition to flower gardening, Ruth enjoyed spending time at Presque Isle State Park. She is survived by three children, John M., husband of Paula D. Daubenspeck Sentgeorge, of Marietta, PA, Margaret A., wife of Joseph M. Ryan, II, of Loveland, CO, and Catherine R., wife of Richard A. Byham, of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Johnson and Margaret Churchill. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:30 am at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA with Pastor Dave Snyder officiating. Interment will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie, PA. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
