Obituary of Darlene W. Stroud

Darlene W. Stroud, 85, of Mount Joy, PA, went home to be with her Savior while surrounded by her family on Saturday afternoon, June 28, 2014 after a long stay at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community in Manheim. Born in New Castle, IN, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Leatha Jarrett Wilkinson. She was the wife of Reid W. Stroud for 56 years on August 21. Darlene earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. She provided administrative support throughout her lifetime in the fields of education, law, technology, and pastoral ministries. She also served along with her husband in his Christian ministry serving Methodist congregations in Kentucky and the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. More recently, she was a member of Ephrata Church of the Nazarene. Her interests included creating various types of needle work and preserving fruits and vegetables. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Doretta Beisel of Bensalem, Rebecca Hansell of Ambler, and Rachael, wife of Hyun Kang, of Horsham; a son-in-law, Algernon R. Hansell, IV of Ambler, eight grandchildren, Erin, Sara, Louis IV, Leah, Nathanael, Abigail, Marisa, and Jadyn; a great grandson and a second great grandson expected to be born in November. She was preceded in death by a sister, Delmaya Judkins. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Landisville Camp Meeting Tabernacle, 201 Church Street, Landisville, PA with Dr. B. W. Hambrick officiating. Private interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery in Manheim. The family will receive friends at the tabernacle on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
