Dear George, I just ran across a map to our house that I made for you and Evelyn in March 1998 when you came to see Ann, Mother, and me. We cherish the many, many years of fellowship our families have enjoyed and remember fondly Evelyn's gentle spirit. She never spoke a harsh or gossiping word and referred to the Lord's goodness endlessly, a reflection of Ephesians 4:29-32 at work in her life. Dear George, I just read your newsletter today. I am deeply sorry to know that Evelyn quietly slipped out of this world to be in the arms of our loving God. Oh George, how wonderful she is finally released from the body and mind that had failed her to the glory of heaven! We watched my mother and grandmother suffer from dementia for years and my grandfather's physical body taken away by debilitating strokes. We fondly remember our first meeting you oh so many years ago in St. Louis. A friendship was struck then, permeated with love that is ongoing. I know how the mantle of care-giving for me has often weighed Joey down, grieving what I can no long do. You can now throw off that mantle, look to our Lord with joy and follow where He takes you in service to Him now.

Evelyn truly lived with her eyes fixed on Jesus. Her prayer life was precious and purposeful. She was very knowledgable about so many things. She extended kind hospitality over and over again. George, we will continue praying for you, Barbara, David and their spouses/families. We have fond memories of Evelyn playing for our wedding in 1971 (with baby Barbara on the floor in her cuddle seat) and of you taking wedding photos & being MC at our reception. Of the times we visited you in Manheim and attending church with you both..... So many times of sharing together and hearing of God's provision for you both over the years. Evelyn was an elegant and caring woman who will be missed by so many. Now she is safe in Heaven forever because of her trust in Jesus Christ, Saviour of the world through His death and resurrection. One day we will all see her once again and rejoice before the throne of God forever!!!

Oh George,
It is with tear-filled eyes that I offer my sincere sympathy. To my shame I didn't realize the gravity of Evelyn's illness. You have been such dear friends to us through the years and deeply touched our lives. Pam and I always looked forward to your visits and cherished each opportunity to fellowship with you and Evelyn.
Please know that Evelyn and you will always hold a special place in our hearts, and should you ever visit So. Cal again, we would consider it an honor to spend time with you.

We had such good times together. I remember babysitting for Barbara and David.
You played the organ at our wedding July 2, 1976 with Barbara being one of our flower girls, and David as ring bearer. George you recorded our wedding for us. Evelyn you will be missed but we shall see you on that beautiful shore, in Heaven someday. You were a true friend.

I praise the Lord for the full inheritance that Evelyn has received through the mercy and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord has promised that all to come to Him He will not cast out. Dear George and family,
We spent so much years ago ... laughing, planning, praying, encouraging, building ... building memories.
But we got more of an "up close" time with you when you spent the month with us before you headed East. What a privilege it was! We'll always remember those days with fondness. Watching you two live out your faith and be an example of a godly marriage was a real blessing to us and our boys.

George, may God wrap His arms around you and the family during these days. We are so thankful for the time we served together at Child Evangelism Fellowship. Evelyn was a very talented lady, playing the piano was one of them. My thoughts go back to the time when we visited the Steinway Galleries, looking for a piano for CEF. God multiplied our 5,000 fishes ($$) and provided brand new Boston piano. That wonderful piano continues to serve. Praise the Lord for the years you served Him together.
