Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John R. Ebersole, 79, of Manheim, PA, went home to be with his Savior, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy after suffering a stroke two weeks prior. Born in South Londonderry Twp., he was the son of the late Lester and Martha Reigle Ebersole. He was the husband of Dolores G. Myer Ebersole. They celebrated 55 years of marriage on April 6th. John was a member of Crossroads Community Fellowship in Lititz. In his younger years, he served two years in 1W Service at Ann Arbor Hospital in Michigan. John formed John R. Ebersole, Inc. in 1963 and later Ebersole Equipment, both in Manheim. He most recently was a partner of Speedwell Construction until his retirement in 2000. John's enterprising spirit led him into many ventures in life. He was an avid outdoorsman who spent time in the mountains and at the shore where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Time spent with his family was special to John. He enjoyed his many large family gatherings and going to sporting events to watch his grandchildren. After retiring you could find John at public auctions and coin sales. Most recently John found joy in his garden. He, along with his wife, sold produce at their roadside stand to many people in the Manheim area. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Carole, wife of Dean Ziegler, of Lititz, Keith, husband of Robin Balmer Ebersole, of Manheim, Christine, wife of Gary Myer, of Manheim, Karen, wife of Brian Wagner, of Lititz, Audrey, wife of Dennis Hosler, of Manheim, and Andrea, wife of Kurt Kline, of Lititz; 22 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two siblings, Eugene R., husband of Jeanette Ebersole, of Pequea, and Alma R., wife of Ernest Reisinger, of Manheim. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Wagner, and three siblings, Arlene Campbell, Warren Ebersole, and Ralph Ebersole. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at Crossroads Community Fellowship, 1060 East Newport Road, Lititz, PA 17543 with Pastor Kyle D. Buckwalter officiating. Interment will be in Graybill Brethren Cemetery, Lititz. The family will receive guests at the church on Sunday from 2-4:00 pm and 6-8:00 pm and on Monday morning from 9:30-10:45 am. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
