Obituary of J. Clarence Kipp
Please share a memory of J. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
J. Clarence Kipp, 91, formerly of Manheim, PA, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, December 16, 2014, at Longwood Manor in Maytown, following a brief illness. Born in Perry County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Emma Rumberger Kipp. He was the husband of Alverta G. Waser Kipp for 72 years on May 3.
Clarence was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Manheim. Previously, he was a longtime member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in East Petersburg where he was Sunday school superintendent, served on the official board, and helped to lead Wednesday evening Prayer Meetings. During World War II, he faithfully served his country in the United States Army, 779th AAA Unit, in the Pacific Theater. Following his military discharge, he began working for Herman Hart building homes. He later formed Kipp and Helman, a construction business he owned until his retirement. Following retirement, he continued his commitment to quality in the cabinets and furniture he built.
In addition to being an avid white-tail deer hunter in his native Perry County, he enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses and gladiolas.
The family wishes to thank the staff at both Longwood Manor and Compassionate Care Hospice for their wonderful care.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Clarence "Johnny" Kipp, husband of Susie Roschel, of Manheim, Rodney R., husband of Donna Kipp, of Beverly Hills, FL, and Suzanne K., wife of Charles T. Houck, of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Adam Charles Houck and Alycia Suzanne Houck; and two siblings, Jean, wife of Roy Lightner, of Schaefferstown, and Frank Kipp of Landisville. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Kenneth Kipp and Geraldine Parks.
