Please share a memory of Laurie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Laurie S. Black, 54, of Lititz, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, May 5, 2015 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy following an illness of more than four years. Born in Pottstown, PA, she was the daughter of George E. and Gail Hauseman Sheeler of Lititz. She was the loving wife of Brian S. Black for 28 years on June 14. Laurie was a member of Middle Creek Church of the Brethren in Lititz where she offered her gift of music as an organist, pianist, choir member, and praise team leader. She was also supportive in Brian's role on the ministry team of the church. Laurie was a 1979 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School in Chester County. While her focus was on creating a warm and loving home and shepherding the hearts of her children, in recent years she was employed part-time by Outback Toys in Lititz, where she enjoyed connecting with customers from all over the country. In addition to serving her Lord, she was passionate about spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed being in the audience or on the sidelines cheering on her children - and sharing special times at the beach - with Ocean City, New Jersey holding countless treasured memories for Laurie. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by four children, Aaron L. Black of Harrisburg, Daniel S. Black, and twins, Amanda C. Black and Adam D. Black, all at home; a sister, Wendy J. Sheeler of Lancaster; and her parents-in-law, Ronald H. and Barbara H. Black of Pottstown. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, May 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, 351 Middle Creek Road, Lititz, PA. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests at the church on Monday evening from 6-9 PM and on Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:45 AM. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, contributions may be made to Middle Creek Church of the Brethren - Missions Fund.
