Obituary of Lester B. Stehman

Lester B. Stehman, 93, formerly of Manheim, PA, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 19, 2015, at Moravian Manor following a period of declining health. Born in Rapho Twp., Lancaster County, PA, he was the son of the late Henry B. and Bessie Bruckhart Stehman. He was the husband of Rachel R. Ginder Stehman for 60 years prior to her passing in 2002. Lester was a member of East Fairview Church of the Brethren in Manheim. He was a full-time farmer on his Rapho Twp. farm for 30 years mainly raising tobacco, chickens, and steers. He was recognized as Farmer of the Year in the 1960s for his progressive soil conservation techniques. He was also employed by Manheim Auto Auction as a shuttle driver for 43 years and for a brief time by Nissley Funeral Home in Mount Joy. He found pleasure in hunting small game. He is survived by two children, Jerry L., husband of Linda A. Graham Stehman, of Manheim, and Sharon L., wife of Kirk M. Thudium, of Lititz; six grandchildren, Danette, wife of Marlin Fair, Corrine, wife of Leon Huber, Brent, husband of Randi Stehman, Chad, husband of Jennifer Rice, Amy, wife of Joseph Kotula, and Kristie Thudium; and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Willis Stehman. A graveside service will be held on Saturday morning, August 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at East Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim, PA.
