Obituary of Mahlon L. Lehman

Mahlon L. Lehman, 86, of Elizabethtown, PA, peacefully went home to be with his Savior and Lord on Saturday morning, February 6, 2016 at his residence. Born on the family farm in Londonderry Twp., Dauphin County, he was the son of the late George F. and Jennie Longenecker Lehman. He was the husband of the late Ethel Brubaker Lehman who passed in 2005.
The farm on which he was born has been in his family since 1800. He farmed the land and had a registered herd of Holstein cattle until he retired in 1997. Until three weeks prior to his passing, he was still helping his two sons on the farm. Mahlon had a passion for evangelism and was an active member of Elizabethtown Mennonite Church where he served as a trustee and on the cemetery board.
He was a member of the National and Pennsylvania Holstein Associations, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, and was a representative for the Brotherly Aid Liability Plan. In addition to traveling with the 40/60 Group, he enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Snyder County. For the past 10 years, he volunteered weekly at the Material Center at Mennonite Central Committee.
He is survived by five children, Mary Ann, wife of Glen Sauder, of Winchester, VA, Jean, wife of Eldon Showalter, of Waynesboro, Marilyn, wife of Donald Miller, of Elizabethtown, Gerald, husband of Crystal Geyer Lehman, of Elizabethtown, and Galen, husband of Kim Jacobs Lehman, of Elizabethtown; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Wayne Lehman, Alice Lehman Gall, Ruth Lehman Givens, Glenn Lehman, and Ammon Lehman.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday afternoon, February14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 South Spruce Street, Elizabethtown. Private interment will be in the Elizabethtown Mennonite Cemetery. The family will receive guests at a viewing at the church on Saturday evening from 6-8:00 PM. They will also receive guests on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. There will be no viewing Sunday. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
