Her time should have been much longer
Upon this earthly sod
But I am comforted in the knowledge
That she is home with God.
When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. I am so thankful for the loving fun-filled memories I had with Mary and feel so very blessed she was part of my life. She will be missed by so many!!

I greatly enjoyed my nurse visits to Mary and was glad to spoil her with Mr. Sticky's sticky buns which she enjoyed. She was a joy to talk to and she loved her family so much. I regret that I will be away on Feb. 27th and cannot attend her memorial service. Having retired in Dec. 2014 I did not see her for over a year. She was one of my favorite patients to visit. My prayers are with you all.

I can recall Mom (whom many readers will know as Aunt Bally) recalling a time about how all of the Christensen sisters got into an argument one time before it was time to go to church. Seems Mary had a new white dress to wear to church (and I think she was still very small at the time and needed to be carried to church) . They were all arguing over who was going to be the one to show off the new baby in the white dress at church that Sunday (knowing there would be folks doting over her of course). The memories are somewhat fuzzy about the details but I do remember the main story line. Mary was quite cute and spindly, according to Mom. I do remember Mom was envious that somehow Grandpa was able to afford or somehow acquire a new white dress for her to model at church. I recall Mom retelling that she and Loretta may have even been a bit jealous because with Mary in the household, this meant the spotlight was off the novel twins and they were not used to sharing a spotlight! Anyway, as the story was retold, Mary slept through the entire first part of the service ..... singing, choir etc (and you know Lutherans...stand up, Sit down. Stand up. Sit down. Stand up, Sit down). Then it was time for the sermon. Having taken a seat at the very front of the church to show off Mary, which was very unusual for a Lutheran (whose DNA predisposes them to always go to the back of a church), the second the starched-collared, stone-faced, Lutheran pastor decided it was time to preach Mary decided it was time to wake up and scream!!!! You got it. At that point, Mary (who was the prized-posession as long as she was cute, quiet and beautiful was the belle of the ball... now that she was awake and loud things were different) she was passed from sister to sister, and the front row of that little Lutheran church, which hardly ever held a soul, looked more like a football field with Mary being passed from sister to sister until one of the older sisters, desparately and embarassingly, decided to tdo the right thing and face the scrutiny of the good Reverand and all the souls in the church as she took Mary out of the church and down into the basement where her auditory talents were free to make what I am sure what God thought was the most joyful noise he ever heard come from any Lutheran church anywhere in this world!

I loved spending time with Mary when I visited with Traci! Mary always had a way of letting you know she was listening and that she cared.
