Obituary of Carl W. Woolley

Carl W. Woolley, 70, of Somerset, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by family and friends on Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2016 at In Touch Hospice following a six month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Born in Somerset, he was the son of the late Ray, Sr. and Alta Durst Woolley. He was the husband of Diana McCoy Woolley for 30 years on October 19. Following his graduation from Somerset High School in 1963, he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War where he served with the Naval Construction Battalion Seabees Unit. Carl was an active member of Geiger Church of the Brethren in Friedens where he was a deacon. He was employed as a metal plater for many years by Rockwood Manufacturing in Rockwood. More recently, he enjoyed his employment as a transportation aide with Health Ride Plus. In addition to gardening and fishing, Carl took pleasure in having his close friend and dog, Bailey, by his side. He was also a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins sports teams. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Elizabeth Woolley, Roy Woolley, and Carl Woolley, Jr.and their families; four siblings, Alice Irene Leslie, Terry (Alice) Woolley, Roger Woolley, and Ray Woolley, Jr., all of Somerset; a special former daughter-in-law, Kim Miller, and her son, Kodie; parents-in-law, Tom and Wilma Shaulis McCoy, and their children, Roger (Shelby) McCoy, Terry (LouAnn) McCoy, and Cheryl Kester, all of Somerset, Gail (Louie) Diamond, of Masontown, and Brenda (William) Spence, of Manheim; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two children, Lee Allen Woolley and Adam Lee Woolley; and four brothers, Gene, Roy, Guy, and Gary. A funeral service will be held on Friday morning, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Geiger Church of the Brethren, 185 Culligan Road, Friedens, PA 15543 with Pastors John and Linda Stoner officiating. Interment will follow in Somerset County Memorial Park. The family will receive guests at the church on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8:00 PM and on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
