Gilbert O. Stout, Jr., 81, of Manheim, PA, entered eternal rest on Thursday morning, March 24, 2016 at Praxis Alzheimer's Facility in Easton. Born in East Petersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Gilbert O. and Gretna Mae Wagner Stout. He was the husband of Audrey Jean Williamson Stout for 57 years on September 6. Gil was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Mount Joy, PA. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army as a specialist 4th class. He was a co-owner of the former Donegal Springs Airport until his retirement. Much of his life centered around aviation. In addition to being a licensed pilot, he was an aircraft mechanic and FFA examiner. Earlier in his career, he served as an officer with the Lancaster City police force for six years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Jay D. Stout of Harrisburg, Sandra J., wife of the late Philip J. Fatta, of East Petersburg, Bruce G., husband of Shannon O'Connell Stout, of Elizabethtown, Hollie A., wife of Patrick Quinton, of Mount Joy, Angela L., wife of Rodney Neely, of Mount Joy, and James T., husband of Laura Duckworth Stout, of Prosperity, SC; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Gretna Frances "Fran" Springer of Lititz, PA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 37 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552 with Pastors David Woolverton and Sean Rajnik officiating. Interment will be private. There will be no viewing. The family will receive guests at a luncheon reception at the church immediately following the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, contributions may be made to the general fund of St. Mark's Church or to Praxis Alzheimer's Facility, 500 Washington Street, Easton, PA 18042.
