Obituary of Verna M. Bomberger

Verna Almeta Bomberger, 94, formerly of Lititz, PA, died peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Ephrata Township, she was the daughter of the late Harlan and Florence (Martin) Heller. She was married 73 years to C. Martin Bomberger. In addition to her husband, she will be missed by her two daughters; Lois, wife of David L. Landis, Manheim, and Linda, wife of J. Marlin Boll, Lititz; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Parke and Eugene Heller, and her sisters, Anna Leaman and Kathryn Landis. A homemaker, she was an active member of Erb Mennonite Church in Lititz. She was employed at Bomberger's Store in Elm and volunteered at Mount Joy Gift & Thrift. She found joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She prepared delicious meals for family and friends in her home and at their Perry County cabin. Her family and friends enjoyed her lemon sponge pies. She loved flowers, gardening, crocheting and playing games. She lived a life to be admired. The family is grateful for the visits, prayers and flowers extended to mother in her declining health and also is very appreciative to the staff and employees of Pleasant View Retirement Community for the wonderful care given to her. A funeral service will be held on Thursday morning, March 31, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Erb Mennonite Church, 567 West Lexington Road, Lititz, PA with Pastors Mike Zimmerman, Fred Heller, John Leaman and Lester Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545 on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM and again on Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
