Obituary of Kathryn E. Hartman

Kathryn E. Hartman, 96, of Myerstown, PA, formerly of the Elizabethtown area, went home to be with her Lord peacefully on Monday afternoon, November 28, 2016 with her loving son by her side. Born in Mount Joy Twp., Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Jamie L. and Jennie M. Wisegarver Hostetter. A homemaker, Kitty was a former member of Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church in Mount Joy where she taught a women's Sunday school class and was active with a ministry of encouragement to missionaries by corresponding with them by mail. She will be remembered for her sweet, kind ways, as a loving wife and mother, and for her enjoyment of quilting, gardening, and preserving food. She is survived by six sons, Ted E. Hartman of Barnet, VT, Robert L. Hartman of Landisville, Daniel E. Hartman, with whom she lived, David R., husband of Marilyn Hartman, of Elizabethtown, Jonathan E., husband of Pam Hartman, of Leander, TX, and Joseph C. Hartman of Leander; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and six siblings, Edgar E. Hostetter of Elizabethtown, Miriam H. Bailey of Kentwood, MI, Rev. Glenn G., husband of Anna Ruth Hostetter, of Elizabethville, James G., husband of Mary Hostetter, of Bedford, Doris J. Eshelman of Cheyenne, WY, and Nancy J. Hostetter of Elizabethtown. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Robert G. Hostetter, J. Richard Hostetter, and Grace I. Gibble. A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon, December 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at her childhood church, Chiques Church of the Brethren, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, PA. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. There will be no public viewing.
