Obituary of Patricia J. Stephens

Patricia J. Stephens, 91, of Elizabethtown, PA, while surrounded by her loving family, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and to join her parents on Wednesday afternoon, December 14, 2016 at her residence following a brief illness. Born in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jay W. and Zelma B. Goforth Wasser. She was the wife of William J. L. Stephens for 71 years on July 21.
Prior to moving to the Masonic Village and joining John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, she was an active member of the United Methodist congregations in the various communities in which she resided, most recently Macedonia United Methodist Church in Louisa, VA. As a young girl, she was a member of the Rainbow Girls and before marriage, was employed as an office worker for the Defense Plant in Erie. Later, she was employed as office manager by her husband's accounting firm. Foremost, Pat was a homemaker, completely devoted to her family. She was also an extremely talented artist, excelling in the crafts of knitting, crocheting, and sewing.
In her younger years, she was the founder of the Jolly Jills Chapter of the 4-H Club and later a member and president of the Senior Citizens group, both in Silver Spring, NY.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five daughters, Linda L. Carroll of Orchard Park, NY, Karen S. Stephens of Charlottesville, VA, Dr. Sharon Hendrix, wife of Dr. Wayne Hendrix, of Bowling Green, KY, Sunia S. Stephens of Santa Monica, CA, and Kim L., wife of David Chandler, of Richmond, VA; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday morning, December 22, 2016 at 10:30 AM at John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA. Please omit flowers. If desired, contributions may be made to Masonic Village Hospice, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
