Obituary of Robert L. Wieder

Robert L. Wieder, 84, of Mount Joy, PA, formerly of Elizabethtown, entered the Church Triumphant on Friday evening, September 9, 2017 at the Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center of Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Leroy and Stella E. Zerbe Wieder. He was the husband of Mary D. Ludescher Wieder for 56 years on December 18. Bob was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown. He was employed for 16 years as a meteorologist by the National Weather Service. He also performed similar duties as a weather observer and forecaster while serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years. During his military career, he served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and received several awards and citations. In addition to spending time outdoors, he enjoyed traveling and watching sports. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, David Wieder of Gaines, Patrice, wife of Robert Carrow, of Buffalo, NY, Debra, wife of George Szamoza, of Woodstock, GA, and Linda Lounsbury, of Middletown, NY; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Fiske, and a sister, Carol A. Chambers. A Celebration of Resurrection Victory will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 75 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with Rev. Albert J. Domines, Jr. and Vicar Wicky L. Barbes, III officiating. There will be no viewing. The family will receive guests at a luncheon in the fellowship hall of the church on Saturday morning immediately following the committal service and military honors in the adjoining memorial garden.
