Obituary of Enid Niquette

Enid Altwegg Niquette, age 90 of Lititz, PA , died on Monday morning, July 6, 2009 at Moravian Manor in Lititz. A native of Junction City, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late William and Laura Louise Gfeller Altwegg. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with a minor in Foods and Nutrition from Kansas State University in 1941. She and her husband, Bob moved to Lititz with their four children from Virginia in 1958. Enid shared a lifelong interest in reading and discussion with a weekly nonfiction book group, which she joined in 1968. Since 1991, she and Bob have been members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, which recently honored them as original members of Flotilla 14-07, chartered in 1993. For the past nine years, Enid was an active member of Lancaster Towne Club, serving as president in 2005-2006. Bob and Enid have been long time members of Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA. Enid is survived by Bob Niquette, her husband of 67 years and daughters Renée and her husband Dennis Toews of Salina, KA; Donna and her husband Jim Belt of Raleigh, NC; Denise and her husband John Heckel of Cape May, NJ; and son, Chuck Niquette and his wife Garland of Lexington, KY. Grandchildren include Michael, Craig and Matthew Toews, Jason Belt and Cara Losurdo, John and Nicole Heckel, and CG and Mason Niquette, as well as eight great grandchildren. Enid will also be missed by her sisters Marge McVay of Junction City, KS, and Noreen and her husband Dan Zumbrunn of Chapman, KS. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on Saturday morning, July 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Moravian Manor, 300 West Lemon Street, Lititz with Pastor Ann M. Osborne and Chaplain Rich Thierolf officiating. Interment will be private. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning at the chapel from 10:15 AM until the time of the service.
