Obituary of Earl B. Ginder

Earl B. Ginder, 91, formerly of Rapho Twp., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, June 30, 2009 at United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz, PA following a brief illness. Born in Rapho Twp., Lancaster County, PA, he was the son of the late Henry T. and Minnie Brubaker Ginder. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Stauffer Ginder for 59 years before her death in 1998.
Earl was a member of Chiques Church of the Brethren in Manheim, PA where he had been a Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was a self-employed farmer in Rapho Twp. for 40 years. During that time, he was also employed for seven years by the former Fuller Company in Manheim and for 23 years as a livestock nutrition consultant by Agri-King. Later, he was employed part-time by Manheim Auto Auction.
Earl enjoyed hunting and trapping and was a member of Happy Hunting Club in Tioga County, PA. He was also a woodworker, making many beautiful pieces of furniture for family members and friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn G., wife of George F. DeLong of Lititz and Nancy G., wife of Carl E. Brandt of Manheim; a son, E. Dennis, husband of Jan M. Hornberger Ginder of Mount Joy, PA; eight grandchildren, Corinne Martin, Eugene DeLong, Douglas DeLong, Jason Brandt, Jessica Brandt, Jared Brandt, Kailah Ginder, and Christian Ginder; and six great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda K. Ginder; and four siblings, Amanda Peters, Anna Brubaker, Raymond Ginder, and Minnie Smeltzer.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday evening, July 3, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Chiques Church of the Brethren, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, PA. There will be no viewing. Private interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to Water Street Rescue Mission, 210 South Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
